Terms of service

Service terms and product boundaries for KERN decision-support usage.

KERN is decision-support software, not an autonomous decision-maker. Users and organizations remain responsible for actions taken on output.

Sections: 17

Eligibility and authority to use KERN

You may use KERN only if you have legal capacity to enter service terms and operate the service lawfully in your context.

If you use KERN for an organization, you confirm authority to bind that organization to these terms.

18+ policy

You must be at least 18 years old to use KERN.

KERN applies an 18+ eligibility requirement as a product and access policy.

This policy is service-level eligibility framing and does not claim that all legal frameworks universally require age 18.

Use on behalf of an organization

Organizational users must follow internal governance, approval chains, and delegated access policy.

The organization is responsible for user provisioning, role management, and approval of high-impact actions.

Service scope

KERN provides verification, investigation, and traceability tooling through web routes and supported integrations.

Feature behavior can vary by plan, tenant setup, rollout state, and technical constraints.

Decision-support boundary

KERN output does not replace legal, financial, operational, compliance, or security judgement.

Users remain responsible for validating evidence quality, context, and proportionality before acting.

No automated legal/financial/compliance/safety decisions

KERN does not guarantee autonomous decisioning for legal, financial, compliance, employment, medical, or safety-critical outcomes.

High-impact decisions require accountable human review.

Prohibited high-risk uses

KERN must not be used as the sole basis for decisions that can materially affect legal rights, safety, health, employment, credit, or critical infrastructure outcomes.

Use in high-risk contexts requires independent verification and domain-qualified review outside KERN output alone.

Acceptable use and prohibited misuse

Users must not misuse KERN for unlawful activity, rights violations, malicious abuse, credential sharing, or unauthorized scraping against restrictions.

Input misuse, source abuse, and attempts to bypass controls can result in suspension or termination.

Account responsibility and security

You are responsible for account security, credential protection, and prompt reporting of suspected compromise.

KERN may enforce access controls and sessions, but user-side security failures can still expose risk.

Availability, changes, and rollout differences

KERN may add, modify, limit, or remove functionality to preserve safety, integrity, or legal alignment.

Some capabilities are intentionally staged and can change during rollout.

Plan, tenant, and region variability

Some features vary across plans, tenant configuration, deployment posture, and region-specific constraints.

Not all capabilities are active in all customer environments.

Commercial terms framing

Public pricing pages provide high-level commercial framing.

Enterprise and public-sector terms can require separate agreements, manual onboarding, and scoped implementation.

Suspension and termination

KERN may suspend or terminate access for abuse, policy violations, security risk, legal exposure, or non-payment under applicable commercial terms.

Where feasible, KERN may provide notice and remediation opportunity, but immediate restriction can be required for risk control.

No warranty / as-available service framing

KERN is provided on an as-available basis subject to operational constraints and planned changes.

KERN does not guarantee uninterrupted service, universal data completeness, or error-free output in all scenarios.

High-level limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, liability is limited to direct contractual obligations under applicable agreements.

Indirect, speculative, or consequential loss claims are excluded except where mandatory law requires otherwise.

Governing document relationship

These Terms should be read together with Privacy policy, AI usage, and Compliance pages.

Those pages provide transparency and operational context but do not override explicit contract terms.
